The partnership

This partnership will see Solbari complementing their own products with at-home SkinVision Skin Checks, increasing skin cancer awareness and early detection. They will empower their global customer base to perform remote checks for signs of the disease by providing access to SkinVision.

Solbari CEO, Johanna Young commented: “We searched the globe for the best direct to consumer skin cancer detection technology and concluded that SkinVision were the leaders in their field. This partnership felt obvious as we both share the vision of a World without skin cancer. At Solbari we want to empower everyone to enjoy a sun smart life. The combination of Solbari and SkinVision brings the best of skin cancer prevention and detection together.”

SkinVision aims to empower individuals to check for signs of skin cancer in the comfort of their home, allowing them to see a doctor in time if a skin spot has been assessed as high-risk by the algorithm. Use of the smartphone application augments already existing self-assessment techniques of skin lesions, such as ABCDE of melanoma. SkinVision users can securely store photos to keep track of changes in the skin over time and monitor changes in the long term, which can assist in discussions with their healthcare professional.

The world has a melanoma problem which is worsening each year, with annual cases of Melanoma increasing by over 50% in the last decade. Though the prevalence is growing, melanoma skin cancer is the most preventable and, if detected early, most treatable.

With over 1.3 million users in 50+ countries worldwide, SkinVision fights skin cancer on a global scale by providing a safe, accurate and remote solution. The latest research shows that the algorithm has a sensitivity of 95% in detecting the most common types of skin cancer.

Erik de Heus, CEO of SkinVision, stated, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring our technology to Solbari customers. It will enable them to check their skin no matter their location. While public knowledge of skin cancer is high in Australia, people are still limited by the number of dermatologists, the remoteness of some workforces, and ever-expanding waiting lists. With recent social distancing measures in place, it’s also likely that many people have cancelled their regular skin checks”.
